Pea

Mr Bound's Bean Pea

An unusual variety that produces very large seeds. Our donor, Mr Bound, was given this pea in the 1960s, but it had been grown in Wiltshire since the 1950s. The tall, vigorous plants will grow to around 2.4m in height, producing bicoloured mauve/red flowers and pods containing around five plump peas. When cooked, they have a texture similar to broad beans with a nutty, sweet flavour.
