As the autumnal tones start to really kick in it always feels like I’m affected by two emotions: a reflection on the growing season that has just finished as I ponder on what worked, what didn't, what I learnt and what gave me the most pleasure. But I also, like all good gardeners, look to the future and already the planning for next spring starts to kick in.

The first hints of the turning of the leaves have just begun and signals the start of a very different type of season in comparison to the last two. Nature is wise and as the days get shorter and the cold sets in, most of it chooses to sleep. I personally love the autumn. The colours, the fresh air in the mornings, its very distinctive smell and I adore a good thick fog when one pops along.
