The Organic Gardening Podcast - April with Kate Bradbury

On this month's Organic Gardening Podcast, Fiona visits author and garden writer Kate Bradbury in Brighton.
Kate shares her passion for wildlife-friendly gardening and the power of small actions to create meaningful change. They discuss how connecting with nature, whether by planting pollinator-friendly flowers, creating habitats, or simply observing the life in our gardens, can combat eco-anxiety and create a community.
...as gardeners we all have this connection, this affinity, with the earth and with nature...and we can use our gardens to improve things for nature. Our gardens represent 5% of the total landmass in the whole of the country. That seems really insignificant but actually that's more than all of our nature reserves put together. And I think the connection is so important.
The more of us that understand the needs of different species, the greater our understanding of the climate and biodiversity crisis...that could spur us on to do more, to act more.
Also in this episode...
It's sowing time and, like many gardeners, Chris and Fiona are very busy! Chris has a front room full of seedlings, and Fiona discusses the five vegetables she’s planning to grow this year. As we're heading towards Easter, Fiona and Chris share their favourite garden centre purchases.
During the postbag session, the team are joined by organic pioneer and longest serving Garden Organic member Pauline Pears. They answer your questions, sharing advice on whether you should be cleaning your water butt, how to fix a broken fiberglass pond, and vegan/organic substitutes for bone meal.
