Sustrans School Street event
Garden Organic was delighted to attend a Sustrans School Street event as part of our role in Move More Eat Well. This project is aimed at helping residents in Longbridge, Cofton, Northfield and Rubery (Birmingham) feel healthier.
On Monday 25th March, our education team went along to Cofton Primary School. The street outside the school was closed and it was car free for the day so the children could cycle, scoot and play safely on the road as well as taking part in food growing activities. Over 150 pots of microgreens were sown with the children at the school and each class planted their own potato sack.
Parents and residents joined in the fun after school and we continued to tell people about the work of the charity, promote organic growing and encourage people to take away their own little windowsill pot to look after, harvest and enjoy!

A ‘School Street’ makes the school run safer, improves air quality at the school and encourages walking, scooting and cycling to school. The event took place to coincide with the start of the Big Pedal event
