Last chance to support organic farming

The Government's new Agricultural Bill is currently being discussed in Parliament. This is our last chance to ensure that organic farming is represented. As the draft Bill stands, there is no mention of the importance of organic techniques, nor of financial support for organic farmers.

We would urge members to write/email/contact their MPs to ask that they vote for a vital amendment to the Bill, which asks for support for organic farming:

Amendment 41 - Agroecology, proposed by Kerry McCarthy (MP for Bristol East), Caroline Lucas (MP for Brighton Pavilion) and Zac Goldsmith (MP for Richmond Park)

This amendment (2A) asks that "The Secretary of State shall also give financial assistance for, or in connection with, the purpose of establishing, maintaining and expanding agro-ecological farming systems, including organic farming."

Make your organic voice heard! Contact your MP and ask them to support this Amendment 41 when the Bill goes for its final reading in Parliament.

See here on how to find your MP. Contact them immediately and quote the above Amendment 41.
