Become a waste buster in Worcestershire!
Did you know Worcestershire households produce 260,000 tonnes of rubbish each year? Much of this is food waste - and across the UK, roughly a third of a black bin’s contents is made up of this kind of waste. With simple steps this can easily be avoided.
If you’re passionate about preventing food waste, and other types of rubbish, then join our Let’s Waste Less Worcestershire campaign.
The initiative, in partnership with Worcestershire County Council, encourages and advises residents on how to reduce the amount of food waste they throw away, helping them save money at the same time. As a Let’s Waste Less volunteer you can help Worcestershire communities learn more about composting, reducing waste, recycling, cutting down on packaging, reusing and repairing.
Volunteers will have access to:
- Free waste-reduction training – which includes composting, food waste and recycling.
- Support and advice from project leads in Garden Organic and Worcestershire County Council.
- A network of like-minded experts and enthusiasts across the region.
- The opportunity to visit commercial recycling, composting and waste facilities, and a range of events around the county.
Volunteers can give talks at gardening clubs and WI groups, have stands at events and work with children in schools. You can give as much or as little time as you wish. Some of our volunteers are very active and have a regular stand at local events, but some only do a few hours here and there. You do not need to be an expert on waste!
