How to grow asparagus pea
Sow seed 1cm deep in pots and transplant, or sow in single or double rows directly into their final growing site. Space plants 15x30cm apart. Choose fertile soil in a sunny site.
Avoid making young plants too wet; they are slow to develop so are prone to rotting. Water plants after flowering starts, to make pods more tender.
Harvesting and use
Regularly cut off pods when 2-3cm long. Longer pods are stringy. Pods are easiest to pick in the evening as the leaves fold downwards.
