Responding to the publication of Jamie Oliver’s ‘Feed me even better’ manifesto, released on Monday 24 October 2011, Myles Bremner, Chief Executive of Garden Organic, said:
“We welcome Jamie’s continued interest and lobbying on the issue of school food. At a time when funding for genuinely positive and impacting school food projects, like the Food for Life Partnership, is in peril, we hope this manifesto, which recognises the value of teaching children about food through practical growing activities, and recommends the continued funding of such projects, is seriously considered by Government.”
Garden Organic is currently leading the DEfRA Food Growing in Schools taskforce – a collaboration between experts, NGOs and commercial representatives to gather evidence on the ways that growing food can benefit children and recommend a way forward.
