Northern Organic groups meet GO at Ordsall Hall, Salford

Growth Therapy Medaltastic

It's Medaltastic for Growth Therapy

Congratulations to our Growth Therapy Group, who scooped a magnificent seven medals at the West Midlands Flower Show at Glasshouse College, Stourbridge.

The group were awarded two first prizes for best scarecrow and homemade chutney; using beetroot from the project. Second place for their runner beans, carrots, action photograph and pear preserve, all grown in the Growth Therapy garden here at Garden Organic. This was closely followed by third prize for their wildlife habitat.

Honeybee

Small Hive Beetle found in Italy

The Italian National Reference Centre for beekeeping has confirmed the presence of the Small Hive Beetle (SHB) in Gioia Tauro, South West Italy. The Small Hive Beetle is a statutory notifiable pest of honey bee colonies across Europe. The SHB is indigenous to Africa but has spread to the USA, Australia, Canada, Jamaica, Mexico and Cuba, where it has proved to be a serious threat to European honey bees.

Award for North London Master Gardeners

Garden Organic’s Master Gardener community food growing project Grow Clyde Road has won the Best Vegetable Garden category, in the 'Peabody in Bloom Awards 2014'.

The project based on the Clyde Road estate in Tottenham, North London, was launched in March with the aim of bringing the community together with a shared passion for growing their own food.
